MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The Head of Marketing and Events (HME) is critical to the company achieving its renewed strategic purpose. Reporting to the Communications Director (CD), the HME is responsible for leading on the development and delivery of the company’s Marketing and Events Activity.

The post holder is expected to be creative, passionate and work effectively within budget. As a new role, the specific duties and responsibilities will develop organically in the short term. The CMED and post holder will agree a final job description at an appropriate time.

The success of this role will be assessed against individual objectives and team key performance indicators. Performance will also be judged against the overall delivery of the strategic / delivery plan against the requirements of the Remit Letter.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

−Responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s Marketing and Events strategies to raise the profile of the Company, drive engagement with stakeholders, industry influencers and opinion leaders, in Wales, the UK and Internationally.
−Work flexibly with the Communications Director to ensure that Marketing and Events strategies and plans are effectively integrated with Overarching Communications, PR, Marketing and Events Strategies.
−Work closely with the Head of Communications and Public Relations to develop and deliver impactful, integrated campaigns that deliver joint objectives as part of the overall marketing and communications strategy to achieve the company’s business objectives

MARKETING

−Lead on the identification and definition of company’s key market segments and develop impactful marketing strategies specific to each one.
−Ensure that the brand and brand guidelines are maintained and refined as required and used consistently throughout all marketing collateral and promotional materials. Ensure that the brand guidelines are communicated consistently across the team.
−Develop content of all outbound collateral securing quality, consistency and clarity of message across all Company functions.
−Ensure that all Company team members are equipped with the marketing collateral and tools that they require to effectively promote Company business objectives and maximise brand awareness.
−Working closely with the Head of Communications and PR along with colleagues across the Commercial Programme team, to develop and deliver a stakeholder engagement strategy and plan, including the utilisation of appropriate messaging and marketing channels.
−Undertake regular stakeholder consultation and market research to generate intelligence and sector information for bench marking purposes.
−Assume editorial control of the Company’s website, including overseeing production of content, working to ensure consistency and coordination of both English and Welsh sections.

EVENTS

−Lead, deliver and co-ordinate a comprehensive and impactful programme of events, led by the Company, to achieve strategic objectives.
−Identify, secure and lead the delivery of the Company’s presence, at key events delivered by stakeholders including trade shows, conferences and seminars, to maximise brand awareness, Company profile and stakeholder relationship building.
−Work closely with colleagues across the Commercial team to identify events that maximise opportunities for networking, stakeholder engagement, relationship building and furthering the Company’s strategic objectives.
−Maintain an insight and awareness of key event opportunities across Wales, the UK and Internationally, to anticipate, plan and inform future event programmes.
−Approve all topics and speakers for events and conferences delivered on behalf of the Company.

General

−As Welsh Language Champion, lead the company’s vision and principles to facilitate and promote the use of Welsh in the conduct of all its business, across all departments. In collaboration with all employees, develop, coordinate the implementation of and monitor the outcomes of, an annual Welsh Language Action Plan.
−Ensure effective and efficient supplier management. Responsible for the appointment and management of external consultants / suppliers - monitoring the delivery, quality and cost-effectiveness against contract.
−Provide timely project updates, performance reports and briefings as required to support the needs of senior management, ARC, Board, Welsh Government and Ministers.
−Work with the Communications Director and finance team to set and report annual budget. Monitor and control Marketing and Events budget.
−Maintain robust internal management, processes and financial controls which comply with the company’s governing principles and satisfy it’s legal and contractual obligations.
−Provide leadership, direction and support to direct reports. Conduct regular one-to-one review meetings, including half-year appraisals to support development, monitor performance against strategic objectives and key performance indicators. Implement the company HR policies, processes and practices to support the health and safety and wellbeing of the team and that they are adhered to.
−Support CEO to position Wales as a strong regional company location.
−Promote and support the achievement of the company’s mission, vision and goals.
−Maintain a high standard of probity in professional, personnel and financial matters, maintaining good relations with colleagues and external partners and to act in accordance with the company’s code of conduct.

KNOWLEDGE

−Exceptional knowledge and experience of developing and delivering Marketing and Events strategies.
−An understanding of the opportunities and challenges specifically faced by Health and Care Services in Wales.
−An appreciation of the political context and framework for a company operating as an ‘arm’s length body’ of the Welsh Government.
−Strong understanding of regulations and legislation impacting on the function e.g. Welsh Language Act, Data Protection Act 2018 and copyright.
−Full working knowledge of window-based software packages, relevant design and publication software.

EXPERIENCE

−Successful track record in planning, implementing and measuring Marketing and Events strategies and programmes across multi-mediums to support strategic objectives.
−Successful track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders across different disciplines.
−Successful track record of project, budget and resource management. Delivering a number of programmes concurrently, on time, within budget and to key performance indicators.
−Building, leading and motivating individuals and teams to deliver results
−Experience of operating in complex, highly political environments.
−Proven track record of success in senior communications roles.
−Strong communicator, confident to represent the organisation at events, conferences and engage at senior manager level.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

−Flexible, energetic, creative and results-orientated.
−Resourceful and perceptive to navigate and negotiate across the NHS and the wider health, social care and political landscape.
−Strong intellectual, strategic, and systemic thinking skills, with the ability to think creatively and laterally to achieve outcomes.

−Datblygu cynnwys yr holl ddeunyddiau sy’n mynd allan gan sicrhau ansawdd, cysondeb ac eglurder y neges ar draws holl swyddogaethau’r Cwmni.
