Northern New Business Sales Executive
Field Based
£40-45k plus Bonus
Full Time

Our client are a market leader in clinical testing and are looking for a Sales Executive to join their team. The role is field based and will be looking at business development in the northern region of the UK (Birmingham and above).

Job Purpose/Summary
• Assist in the development of, and personally implement, sales plans to ensure the continued growth of our client’s sales, market share and profitability in line with overall business strategy and sales & profit targets.
• Manage projects and coordinate sales activities with a view to maximising market awareness of our client as a company. This will be achieved primarily through effective implementation of policies and services with end-users as well as the third-party customers.
• Update customers on new technologies and products. Effectively use clinical data available to add value and hence increase the sales line.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and service a current portion of our client’s business
• Primarily search for, identify and win business in new arenas whilst also undertaking an element of searching for new business opportunities within the current business portfolio
• Undertake market research and analysis
• Actively develop and grow all aspects of our client’s business
• Proactively assist in the development of, and personally implement, business and marketing plans, sales strategies and promotional plans
• Prepare forecasting plans for accounts
• Ensure that sales meet/exceed business objectives and net profit targets are achieved through effective pricing structures.
• Active involvement in the sales processes with end users
• Provide indirect leadership and coaching to fellow colleagues
• Ensure the CRM system is kept up to date with logs of all calls, emails and meetings with clients
• Assist colleagues to develop superior product knowledge
• Promote and support teamwork and the sharing of ideas and information between colleagues
• Ensure that our client’s professional and ethical standards are maintained
• Provide detailed plans and ensure that strategies are well comprehended and executed within the agreed timelines
• Work closely with the relevant authorities regarding tenders in the region
• Update all customer contacts and details to management as required
• Attend all pertinent/relevant meetings as directed by management
• To undertake any other reasonable duty, when requested to do so by an appropriate manager
• Demonstrate on going competency against training plans and participate positively in CPD (continuous professional development) activities
• Attend Head Office each quarter for Commercial Meetings

• To observe safety regulations and attend mandatory fire, manual handling and other courses as required
• Report all incidents and adverse events to managers and assist in the investigations of any incidents
• Participate in risk assessment monitoring
• To ensure that the equipment within area of work is maintained and operated as per SOP’s
• To comply with our client’s policy for annual mandatory updates and have knowledge of COSHH and Lifting and Handling Policies


• An active, full and progressing pipeline of new business wins
• Hitting the forecasted sales number each month, quarter and year
• Speedy implementation of new business wins
• Good working relationships with key stakeholders within existing clients
• Expectation of 3 days per week “on the road” with a minimum of 6 visits conducted per week.


• Previous experience in sales
• Educated to degree level (Preferably in a Life Science)
• Good presentation skills (verbal & written)
• Goal and achievement orientated with a drive for results
• Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
• Driving licence
• Good planning skills
• Commercial awareness
• Understanding of industry sectors
• Excellent listening skills
