Planning Coordinator

Role Overview

The Planning Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering schemes by managing statutory notices, permits, stakeholder communication, and traffic management coordination. This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, submit, and monitor statutory road notices and permit applications in line with current legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all applications comply with relevant guidelines, including local authority and client-specific requirements.
  • Liaise with local councils, schools, transport providers, utility companies, and clients to secure approvals and coordinate project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of permits, approvals, road closures, and related documentation.
  • Monitor the status of submitted applications, proactively following up on outstanding approvals to avoid project delays.
  • Coordinate with Site Managers to initiate permits, track scheme progress, and escalate any issues where necessary.
  • Request, review, and coordinate Traffic Management plans with approved contractors.
  • Identify potential conflicts with other planned roadworks and work collaboratively with relevant authorities to mitigate risks.
  • Attend pre-start meetings and provide planning support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the wider project team with administrative and scheduling tasks as required.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and local stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Scheme Engineers to ensure reinstatement and notice closure information is submitted accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Engage with local residents and businesses where necessary to facilitate smooth scheme delivery and minimise disruption.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in civil engineering, utilities, highways, or infrastructure project coordination.
  • Strong understanding of permit and notice processes within highway or local authority environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised with strong administrative and documentation control abilities.
  • Proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Location: South Wales (Swansea)
Salary: £35,000 + £4,500 Car Allowance
Hours: 7:30am – 5:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
